Jul 23, 2016- Incessant rains have triggered more floods and landslides affecting thousands of people across the country. Continuous rainfall since Thursday night inundated around 500 homes at Ganeshpur, Gharbari Tole, Belaspur, Bhrikutinagar, Siddhartha Tole, Surkhet road and Karkado in Nepalgunj of Banke district.

Power interruption was also reported in many parts. People from at least a dozen villages fled their homes after water level rose dangerously in Rapti River. In Nawalparasi, floodwaters from Jharahi and Ramkhanda streams caused a deluge in Parasi, flooding hundreds of homes.




Nearly three dozen homes were flooded in Rupandehi. Police rescued seven people at Basantapur
VDC-4 after they were trapped in a flood. Floodings were also reported at Devdaha, Siktahan and Patkhauli VDCs. Heavy rains triggered landslides affected traffic in different parts of Palpa.

Flooded Seti River in Doti has put dozens of villages at high risk of flood and landslides. In Achham, people living close to Budi Ganga River and other streams face danger.

A passenger microbus was swept away by the flooded Gwar stream in Dang on Friday. The trapped passengers were rescued by locals.

Police said a landslide has obstructed the Tulsipur section of Tulsipur-Salyan road.
2 Syangja boys killed, Pyuthan girl missing

Two young boys were killed after they were buried by a landslide at Chapakot VDC-9 in Syangja on Friday. Police said Samir Shahi, 12, and Anjan Malla, 14, died in the incident. Their bodies were recovered in the evening. Meanwhile a 12-year-old girl is missing when a landslide buried three houses at Phopli VDC-9 in Pyuthan.

Works at Barhabise-Tatopani alternative route hampered

SINDHUPALCHOK: Heavy rains in Sindhupalchok damaged the construction works for the 26-kilometre alternative route to connect Barhabise with Tatopani on Thursday night, after flash floods two weeks ago swept away the parts of Araniko Highway in the district.

Divisional Road Office chief, Ashok Tiwari, said 50 percent of the construction they had accomplished, a 13 km track from Barhabise till Jambu, in the last few days was destroyed by landslid
